Understanding Your Heart Chakra Part 2:  Opening & Awakening Awareness

As we begin Part of the Heart Chakra Series, if you haven't read Part 1 click here because we will build on that amazing introduction. 
Love and life experienced through the Heart Chakra is not just about romance, but transcending Ego limitations and personal mind preoccupations to open up more fully experiencing compassion, love and life. When you live from your heart, your heart energy is opened and balanced, you can feel clearly and experience life not just on a physical level but also emotional and Spiritual. The Heart Chakra is also a center through which we experience the beauty of life. Experiencing the world through a balanced Heart Chakra is being in a state of openness, love, joy and acceptance that brings us in touch with our ourselves first and then our world in profound and fulfilling ways.
The Heart Chakra connects the lower chakras (physical) and upper chakras (spiritual). It acts as a center of integration of physical earthly matters and higher spiritual aspirations. It also acts as a conduit to the energy flow of flow of giving and receiving.
All Levels of any of the Seven Chakras' energy movement (Overactive, Balanced or Blocked) exist simultaneously and in total fullness and completion at all times (Law of Polarity). The more important aspect is where is your awareness of the energy based on real-time (Now Moment) instant feedback.

Heart Chakra Governs

The Heart chakra is associated with the following  characteristics:
  • Capacity to love
  • Integration, bridge between earthly and spiritual aspirations
  • Transcending personal identity and limitations of the ego
  • Experience of unconditional love and connection with all
  • Appreciation of beauty in all things
  • Experiencing deep and meaningful relationships

Heart Chakra Focused Yoga Poses:

Cobra (Bhujangasana) — Intended to broaden the chest area through breath, cobra is a great asana for opening the heart chakra. Promotes spinal strength, but also invigorates the circulatory system.

1. Lie face-down with your forehead resting on the floor.
2. Place your hands on either side, at the middle of your ribcage.3. Draw your legs together, pressing the tops of your feet into the floor.

4. Reach back through your toes, lengthening your legs.
5. Press evenly through your hands as you draw your elbows close to your ribcage.
6. Using the strength of your back (not your arms), lift your head and chest, sliding your shoulder blades down your back. Take 5 to 10 long, deep, even breaths here.
7. Then gently release to the floor, turning your head to one side.

Cat (Marjaryasana) - Cow (Bitilasana) — Cat-Cow is a gentle flow between two poses that warms the body and brings flexibility to the spine. It stretches the back torso and neck, and softly stimulates and strengthens the abdominal organs. It also open the chest, encouraging the breath to become slow and deep. The spinal movement of the two poses stimulates the kidneys and adrenal glands. Coordinating this movement with your breathing relieves stress and calms the mind.

  1. 1. Start on your hands and knees with your wrists directly under your shoulders, and your knees directly under your hips. Point your fingertips to the top of your mat.
2. Place your shins and knees hip-width apart. Center your head in a neutral position and soften your gaze downward.
  1. 3. Begin by moving into Cow Pose: Inhale as you drop your belly towards the mat. Lift your chin and chest, and gaze up toward the ceiling.
Broaden across your shoulder blades and draw your shoulders away from your ears.

​4. Next, move into Cat Pose: As you exhale, draw your belly to your spine and round your back toward the ceiling. The pose should look like a cat stretching its back.
5. Release the crown of your head toward the floor, but don't force your chin to your chest.
6. Inhale, coming back into Cow Pose, and then exhale as you return to Cat Pose.


Eagle (Garudasana) — The arm and leg positions that make up eagle pose not only build strength and balance, but also open the Heart Chakra.

  1. Begin on your hands and knees. Center your breath, and begin to let your thoughts slow down. Turn your awareness inward.
  2. Spread your knees wide apart while keeping your big toes touching. Rest your buttocks on your heels. Those with very tight hips can keep their knees and thighs together.
  3. Sit up straight and lengthen your spine up through the crown of your head.
  4. On an exhalation, bow forward, draping your torso between your thighs. Your heart and chest should rest between or on top of your thighs. Allow your forehead to come to the floor.
  5. Keep your arms long and extended, palms facing down. Press back slightly with your hands to keep your buttocks in contact with your heels. Lengthen from your hips to your armpits, and then extend even further through your fingertips.
  6. For deeper relaxation, bring your arms back to rest alongside your thighs with your palms facing up. Completely relax your elbows.
  7. Let your upper back broaden. Soften and relax your lower back. Allow all tension in your shoulders, arms, and neck to drain away.
  8. Keep your gaze drawn inward with your eyes closed.
  9. Hold for up to a minute or longer, breathing softly.
  10. To release the pose, gently use your hands to walk your torso upright to sit back on your heels.

Bridge Pose
(
Setu Bandha Sarvangasana)  


Stretches the chest, neck and spine. Calms the brain and helps relieve stress and mild depression. Stimulates the abdominal organs, lungs and thyroid. Reduces anxiety, fatigue, backache, headache and insomnia. Therapeutic for high blood pressure.

  1. ​Lie on your back. Bend your knees with your feet on the floor hip-width apart.
  2. Bring your feet as close to the sitting bones as possible.
  3. Inhale; press your feet and arms actively into the floor and lift your hips up.
  4. Firm, but do not harden the glutes.
  5. Clasp your hands together, walk the shoulders down, and press into the floor with your feet and arms.
  6. Open the chest and reach the front of your legs and pelvis toward the sky.
  7. Hold for five breath cycles, exhale down, and repeat 2 to 3 more times.
When you take the time to learn your energy, how it moves through your body through your Chakras, you will then learn how the energy starts to bring greater awareness to who you are and the enormity of your Infinite nature.  Only then will you begin to hear your personalized Heart Song and it will guide you to harmonious co-creation with others at the same aligned attraction point.  Each additional Chakra is the equivalent of adding another instrument to create a beautiful symphony.

Understanding Your Heart Chakra Part 1: The Foundation

​Heart Chakra - Anahata

The Heart Chakra is the 4th Chakra, located at the center of the Seven Chakra System. It is where the physical and spiritual come together. Located at the exact center of the chest, it corresponds not only to the heart but your lungs, thymus gland, and your cardiac plexus.
In Sanskrit, it is referred to as the Anahata which means unhurt, the spiritual place where past experiences and grievances cannot harm us. The Anahata Chakra is associated with the color green, which stands for transformation and love energy.

The Heart Chakra brings awareness to compassion, love, and beauty. Driven by the principles of transformation and integration, the fourth energy center is said to bridge earthly and spiritual aspirations, join the upper3 and lower 3 chakras.  

In this article we will briefly introduce the Heart Chakra and its attributes. Most Chakra articles begin with discussing the Chakras using either the Root Chakra or the Crown Chakra as a starting point. I personally like to start the discussion from the center, or the Heart of the matter because it is the connector of the upper three (Spiritual) Charkas and lower three (Physical) Chakras.  The Heart Chakra can allow in more energy than the Root or Crown and can energize the energy the strongest getting this energy to the other Chakras with great speed and efficiency. 
 
In Part 2 of Understanding Your Heart Chakra, you will learn how to open and balance the Heart Chakra so it may be a point of Spiritual, Emotional, Physical equilibrium in your body and life.
 
Heart Chakra Aspects

  • Location: In the center of the chest (the energy center is not located where our actual heart organ lies; rather, the heart chakra is in the center of the chest area); it is the 4th chakra counting from the bottom of the spine in the traditional 7 chakra system.
  • Color: Green (higher energy frequencies can turn to pink)
  • Symbol: Two intersecting triangles forming a 6-pointed star in a circle with 12 petals
  • Element: Air
  • Healing Crystals and Stones: Pink quartz, clear quartz, jade, green calcite
  • Essential oils: Rose, geranium, neroli, ylang ylang, jasmine, bergamot
  • Glands or Bodily functions: Thymus gland, responsible for hormone production and important in the regulation of the immune system.

Heart Chakra Balanced Attributes

If your fourth chakra is properly balanced, this is indicated by your personal conduct. Those with an open Heart Chakra are full of love, forgiveness and compassion. If the Heart Chakra is out of overactive or blocked people tend to have personalities that are filled with anger, grief, hatred and jealousy, all being physical manifestations of a fourth chakra that needs to be healed.

  • Love for oneself and others
  • Relationships
  • Compassion
  • Empathy
  • Deeply connected
  • Forgiveness
  • Transformation 
  • Ability to grieve and reach peace
  • Compassionate discernment
  • Center of awareness, integration of insights
  • Energy exchange flows harmoniously

Heart Chakra: Blocked Emotional

  • You are easy to anger or are always angry
  • You will probably be very negative in your thinking and may find it very difficult to keep a positive outlook on life.
  • You may feel unloved, unworthy and unappreciated
  • You love is unrequited.
  • You have do not trust others  
  • Unable to be compassionate

  • Unforgiving
  • Jealous
  • Lack Empathy
  • Too logical
  • Withdrawn
  • Erect Emotional Barriers
  • Fear of Intimacy
  • Antisocial
  • Shy
  • Loneliness 

Heart Chakra: Blocked Physical

  • Respiratory ailments: lung infection, bronchitis
  • Heart Palpitations
  • Chest Pain
  • Heart Attacks
  • Heart Blockages
  • Poor Circulation
  • High/Low Blood Pressure

Heart Chakra: Overactive

  • You will be ruled by your emotions; sadness, anger, grief, despair, greediness and happiness will come over you with no or little control.
  • Your love may have conditions, “I will only love you if you are this way
  • You are a “people pleaser”, afraid that you will not be liked or accepted by others around you.
  • Seek Approval of Others

  • Co-dependency: You may find it hard to let go, of any relationship, that no longer serves your Highest Good.
  • Over critical, and judgmental of yourself and others.
  • You may be manipulative
  • Lack of Boundaries
  • Self-Sacrificing 
  • All giving - no receiving

Heart Chakra: Air  Element

Air element is the element that connects all other elements, even though it is invisible. The element of Air gives us room to breathe, widens our lungs, and with them, opens our Soul to personal freedom. Air cannot be enclosed and it is changeable. Air is the space in which all other elements activate or are contained. The Heart Chakra Energy as an Air Element is associated to the breath and its movement. The Heart like Air is a spaciousness  connection with all things.

Heart Chakra: Color Green

Green is the color of nature and health. It represents growth, nature, money, fertility and safety Green is the great balancer of the heart and the emotions, creating equilibrium between the head and the heart. It is also the color of growth, the color of spring, of renewal and rebirth. It renews and restores depleted energy. It is the sanctuary away from the stresses of modern living, restoring us back to a sense of well being.

reen has healing power and is understood to be the most restful and relaxing color for the human eye to view. Green is the color of prosperity and abundance, new growth and rebirth. Green is soothing, relaxing, and youthful. Green also brings with it a sense of hope, health, adventure, as well as self-control, compassion, and harmony.

Heart Chakra: Symbol

The symbol for the Heart Chakra:
  • A circle with 12 petals
  • An downward-pointing triangle interlaced with an upward-pointing triangle, forming a six-pointed star or hexagram
  • The intersecting triangles represent the air element and its all-encompassing quality. They also symbolize the union of seemingly opposite principles or types of energies, such as male and female, spirit and matter.
  • The star the triangles form evokes the harmonious joining of forces and highlights the function of the heart chakra as a center of integration and connection.  

Heart Chakra Location: The Chest

​The location for the Heart Chakra is at the center of the chest, between the breasts. It’s slightly to the left of the actual organ of the heart.  
 
As the fourth energy center, it’s important to remember that it is multidimensional and is energetically represented with a front going through the center of the chest, and a back going through the spine between the shoulder blades. The Heart Chakra is associated to the cardiac system and the lungs.   These organs are interdependent and rely on air and breathing to function properly. The gland associated with the heart chakra is the thymus, which is in charge of regulating the immune system.

In understanding your Heart Chakra we will continue the introduction by connecting you to the Heart Chakras governance and connections.  We will also have a thorough discussion of wonderful techniques to bring your Awareness to a balanced Heart Chakra.

10 Secrets to True Love

Who doesn’t want True Love and the secrets to obtain it?

What is True Love? Does false love exist? How would you know love is true or false? Do you know how to love? Do you even know what to look for or how to find it?

Love is Love. Love is unconditional. Conditions that are placed on Love are not Love. The actual definition of Conditional Love = FEAR! Love cannot be given or taken away. Love cannot be added to or subtracted from. Love is an absolute, and it is a Universal Truth like infinity, for True love is infinite. Love like all truths can only exist in the eternal now moment.

If you are quantifying, qualifying, giving and taking Love, that is not Love. Your Ego is moving you into the lower aspects of the Love polarity into Fear. Fear can be quantified and qualified. Your Ego is the expert at having you believe in lack.

In this world, your Ego loves opposites or duality. Your Ego makes you believe there is lack or absence of something. One could say the ultimate duality is Love and Fear. The Law of Polarity explains this as follows:

Everything is dual; everything has poles; everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same; opposites are identical in nature but different in degree. – The Kybalion, (The Three Initiates, 1908)

Opposites do not exist as you have been taught.

One side of the pole is one extreme, and the other side of the pole is the other extreme on the topic being discussed. In essence, there is the absolute and varying degrees of the lack of the absolute until the other end of the pole is reached. On a thermometer, there are high temperatures (hot – the absolute) and low temperatures (cold – the lack of hot). You have been taught that hot and cold are opposites. It is the just varying degrees of the same topic of temperature. Once you understand this powerful law, there will no longer be the need to search for what appears to be missing for it is always present in the lack. Nothing is ever kept or hidden from you in this Universe by anyone except by you, with your belief that lack exists.

A shift in awareness is needed.

Most search for True Love in all the wrong places. You have a belief what you seek is outside of you in others. Your Ego sends you on a never-ending elusive to have others give you what you already possess. Your Ego will never acknowledge Love without conditions because it operates from the mind. True Love operates from your heart and speaks the language the Ego does not understand.

The only place True Love can be first found is within you. You cannot give what you do not have, nor is there anything to seek outside of you. This is the illusion your Ego creates. You first must look within yourself for that what you seek because it has always been there within you and always will be.

If you do not connect to the True Love present within you, you will never recognize another’s True Love.

Your Ego will convince you their Love is fake. Others are simply a reflection of you, and you can only receive them at the level of consciousness you are currently vibrating. You can only vibrate at the level of conscious you can feel within yourself.

Look within your own heart and operate from heart consciousness. Feel the beautiful language of Love as it speaks to you and through you. You will know your truth and your Love because it will feel good within you. There will be no doubts.

You have never been without True Love for you are absolute of True Love in human form.

You are always the absolute of all that you seek. Nothing is ever missing. Do not continue to allow your Ego to manipulate you into believing that you are True Love. The paradox to living this knowing is the moment you realize you are True Love and it can never be kept or taken away from you, you stop needing it or wanting it from others. In doing so, you will experience True Love everywhere and in everything. The search will finally be over.
